Rebecca Burch created this sleeve for her”Peeps Gone Wild” video installation, part of the “PEEP SHOW” one-day exhibit on May 17 in Charleston.
Amy Williams’ exhibit, “PEEP SHOW,” also features ten artists, with the theme focused on either the marshmallow peeps you see at Easter and/or the actual imagery related to old -time peep shows (CAUTION: A little more provocative than your normal Charleston art exhibit, parents may want to preview the show before bringing their kids).
“I like the idea of mixing up the innocence and pureness of peeps with the more erotic notion of a peep show,” says Williams. “Artists had the freedom to do whatever take they wanted on these ideas, and I think art lovers and people with a sense of humor will find this something not to miss!”
Artists included in the exhibit include: Rebecca Burch, M.Elizabeth Dailey, Chris Dutch, Charly Hamilton, Jamie Miller, Joe Mullins, Keeley Steele, Donna Whitten, Amy Williams and Mark Wolfe. Music by local buskers, Martyranny’s Collective Pulse, features AcoustiCrust, a mix of acoustic instruments with an anarcho-punk twist. PEEPSHOW is one-night only.
Good News Garage Gallery is at 221 Hale Street. Chet Lowther Studio is at 223 1/2 Hale Street. For more information on both exhibits email: mark@markwolfedesign.com or amyvangogh@yahoo.com.
