No wonder Charleston is the most generic white bread middle American town in the country. People prefer prefer TGIFs over an actual restaurant.

This sort of bitching and moaning exactly why there are no unique or progressive businesses in this town. People freak out over pepper! What a bunch of total bores.

Where the hell is Cazon anyway? It would be nice if someone would include the location in these stories.

Maybe the waitress was clueless. That's hardly unheard of. Anyhoo, Cazon is a southwestern, Tex-Mex joint, so if it weren't spicey then it just wouldn't be proper.

Cazon reviewer Maureen Crockett weighs into the spicy subject of this post with this review of the review of her review, via e-mail. She asked gazz to post it here:

As for the heat in my BLT sandwich? I love spicy mayo, the kind with wasabi, and buy that type a lot for sandwiches and potato salad created at Chez Crockett. But that extra and unnecessary heat [at Cazon] came from the bacon. How do I know? I asked the waitress.

Try the muffaleto... muffaloofa.... muffumo... I don't know how to spell the thing: the big freakin' sandwich with the turkey, pastrami and olives...
Charleston's best sandwich... period.

MAYONNAISE? AARGHH!

Mayonnaise is the food of the devil! No amount of pepper could drown out that most evil of condiments. Thank God Graziano's is back open after their vacation. Mel and I went into Cazon last week for lunch, but the overabundance of mushrooms on the menu made me too nervous to eat there. I'm allergic and those things could kill me.

Mayo, I'm not allergic to. I simply hate it with all fury that a sane man can summon towards a food item.

Now I gotta get back to my spinach withdrawal.
