Doesn't anybody in this town know how to make a sandwich on their own? No I have not tried Jimmy John's yet, and it may be OK, but another chain?

Why people? Why?

[...] In this — the only socially acceptable form of drive-by shooting — we see evidence of commerce having returned to the corner of Virginia Street and Capitol Street in downtown Chareston. Plus, a welcome and slightly offbeat piece of neon (or fake neon, not sure which) offers an olfactory hit for the price of walking in the door. My blogging confrere Brooke A. Brown, did the initial research on Jimmy John’s right before it was unveiled recently. Dunno if it’s a Subway wannabe, or better — or worse. Anyone interacted with this chain before? Someone eat there and report back. Brooke, get on it! [...]

Thanks for the investigative reporting teamwork, spinster girl and Nate. I appreciate it!

Now... I guess it's time to try a JJ sub.

Thanks to spinster girl letting us know it had opened, I went down there to check it out with my family. I too was skeptical about yet another sub shop, but it was fantastic in my opinion. I liked the whole experience. Affordable prices (especially compared to Bellacino's...), good music playing, funny signs on the walls, I'm a sucker for the whole gimmick.

Also, thanks for the heads up Brooke. I've been going crazy wondering what the new sub shop was going to be.

Jimmy John's is now open for business and despite bringing my lunch today I found myself in line and ordering a vegetarian club. There was a Jimmy John's in the town I attended grad school and while I'm not sure I ate there with any sort of regularity, I did find myself in there more than a few times. I'm a fan of the wheat bread. When I was eating meat, I can't recall ever having anything bad.

Thanks, John. If you ever find a place that DOES magically pull you in three times per week, you must let me know!

There is a Jimmy John's across the street from the University of Kentucky in Lexington and several more in the city. They make a really good sub. I did not find myself magically pulled there three times a week or anything and I actually preferred Jersey Mike's sub shop that was a few doors down.

I will definitely give it a try.
