My husband and I are regular visitors to the Thai House. When we first started going to the Dunbar location, we too did not know what to order. We found that once we started talking to Mr. Hoon, he was more than willing to answer all our questions about the food. We have our favorites, but try to order new items every so often so we can try many things on the menu. Our favorties are the Thai salad. The peanut dressing is wonderful, the garlic meat (we like shrimp, the Phai Tai, well, I think the list is just too long to list. We eat most of our food at medium heat level, but have friends that like to go hot and THAI HOT. When the restaurant first opened they had some problems seating and serving everyone, but we have been back often and find no problem getting seated during the week and usually make a reservation on the weekend. We know the little bit of wait on our food is worth it because the food is fresh and made to order. I have never had any meat or vegetable in my food that I did not recognize. Give them time to work all the bugs out. I’m sure opening a new restaurant that is not a fast food joint or a franchaise takes time to get in the rythmn of things, especially when you are training new people. They ran the small Dunbar location by themselves. We love the green tea, but have not had it at the new restaurant due to equipment problems. Make a trip to the Thai House. Ask questions about the menu if you’re not sure. Anyone there will be more than willing to help you. You’ll be in for a real healthy treat.

Great flavor but very slow in service (1 hr for food to arrive).
Did not have a few menu items.
One dish did not tast authentic.

I ate at the Thai House last night. I live in Winfield and it is very convenient for me. I have eaten at the Dunbar location just once before about a year and a half ago. The new location is much more roomier. However, I was sooooo lost when I was looking over the menu. I remembered the menu at Dunbar being a list of items with some explanations as to what the food was. The new menus at the new location are very nice quality and nice color pictures, but not informative enough. (Also, I spotted a typo on these very nice and probably expensive menus-”Vegetebles”=unacceptable.) It shows a picture of the dishes and the Thai name of it and that’s it! I don’t know what’s in Gang Dang Chicken besides chicken. I’d like to know what vegetables and what type of sauce it will have because you can’t tell from the pictures. And some of the names do not sound very appetizing like “(something) Garlic Meat.” Meat? C’mon we’ve all heard the rumors about Asian food… Really, this means you have your choice of chicken, pork or beef. Our waitress was very informative and willing to answer my numerous questions, though when I was done asking, I still didn’t know what I wanted. I ended up with the Garlic meat (chicken) dish and it was OK. My husband got the green curry and he didn’t like it. I thought it was just ok, but I’m not a big fan of curry. The crab rangoons we got as an appetizer had very good flavor, but were cold in the middle and one was still a little frozen. They could have left them in the fryer just a tad longer. They are having some typical growing pains like their grill breaking on opening night (and apparently still broken a week later) and not having time to cook any duck. But when we asked for hot tea, we were told they didn’t have any because their “thing” was broken. Whatever…… I doubt I’ll go there very often, although I live about 1/2 mile away. I just wasn’t impressed. Taste of Asia is better, to me. I hope the loyal customers of Thai House visit often enough to make it successful because most restaurants that have occupied that particular location don’t seem to thrive for some reason.

Amen to the Debit card reader!!!! I work near the Dunber location. I miss their lunch too. Winfield? I’m not sure? Allot of people have to drive bye the ‘Taste of Asia’(who also serves Thai) to get there. Just food for thought. Good luck to them!!
