IntersectionScape: Off to China

I recall the television show “Twin Peaks,” while it was still deliriously fine. That was before it jumped the shark with that nonsense about the dwarf in a house of mysterious rooms and other “poppycock!” (to quote the hilarious judge on the very un-jumped shark of a show “Boston Legal”). But I am digressing. I mean to recall how “Twin Peaks” director David Lynch would film stoplights changing — green, to yellow, then to red — as scene interludes. Lovely. Here is my light-changing scene interlude, at the intersection of Washington and Elizabeth streets. Remember — reuse your fried rice!

Gorgeous photo of a defunct building.
Though it wasnt the photo that sparked my intrigue, but the ” Twin Peaks” comment .
While I and my wife ride around Kanawha city, towards downtown charleston it does harken such “scene interludes”. My personal favorites inclduing rural Kanawha city homes by the river front; lush and desne with the easy going Americana David Lynch relishes in .
But Lets not forget that like that ” dwarf in the house of mysterious rooms and other ‘ poppycock!’, WV is rife with characters and anomalies.
Though as a cyclist and capitol street Busker, I enjoy the more subtle and bizzare. Without these elements a city becomes just a passing city , and a T.V. show just something else to reference about Charleston WV.
LIttle Dwarves and mysterious rooms are what i expect from a city that puts up a baseball park instead of tearing down commerciallised eye sores like Stone and Thomas, or at least converting it into a relatively affordable local enterprise.
how many starbucks and mini malls, were in the show “Twin Peaks?”

Thank you for the comments, bricksandtrees. West Virginia can be a very Twin Peaks-ish place sometimes, rife with that of which you speak. Are there not plans to finally — finally! — transform the old Stone and Thomas into an extension of UC or something? The city needs more of that. Not to mention more dwarves and mysterious rooms
