I used to go to Vandalia Lounge routinely, but have not been back since the precipitous closing in early December and ousting (or whatever went down) of bar manager Pierre Charbonieux. Whatever the nature of the contretemps between he and Virgil Sadorro, I miss the ambience Monsieur Charbonieux crafted and engendered there: A welcoming, friendly vibe. I do not know if I will be back, but perhaps I will. But it’s curious, isn’t it — Monsieur Sadorro got his way, but at what cost? Or was there some darker or unknown set of reasons that put him in the right? I know a crew of people who have not returned since the closing and re-opening a few weeks later. Have you been back? What’s the vibe aujourd’hui?
