The Tap Room is one of the few clubs in the area whose front — the Quarrier Diner — reveals nothing about what’s out back. You gotta know it’s there. Which is the point, no?

[…] Yes, it’s my favorite storefront in downtown Charleston — and it isn’t open. Well, in front it isn’t. They still make deliveries in the back. It’s a good thing they keep the ‘Young’s’ neon sign ablaze and its proud pronouncement that the defunct Quarrier Diner seats 300. Would that it seated that many still and that you could walk out from a Clay Center late-night cabaret and nab a toasted cheese sandwich and apple martini. One can dream, can’t one.
