Sad But True

I regret to inform you that as of Wednesday March 7, HYAMP will be closing their doors due to circumstances beyond their control.

HYAMP will hold a final show Wednesday March 7, 2007. The band list is as follows: Holden Caulfield, Scenes from a Movie, Let the Guilty Hang, Beyond all Hope, Stockdale, and Long Time Coming (pictured).

The show begins at 6 p.m. and the cost is $8. Donations for a new building are being accepted.

HYAMP is located at 2001r 7th Ave. in Huntington, WV.

Gone Country?

Start your weekend off early “country style” at the Empty Glass.

Thursday March 1, The SpikeDrivers, (pictured) from Columbus, Ohio will throw into the music mix Americana with a dash of swingin blues. Grammy award winner Jeff Ciampa produced their self titled studio album.

Friday March 2, Justin Earle (pictured) will perform his acoustic rockn-country style music for his fans at the Empty Glass. Justin is the son of musician Steve Earle.

Joshua Black Wilkins (pictured), knows how to rock country style with influences like Whiskeytown, Cash, and Hank to name a few. Wilkins will take the stage before Earle.

Jeff Ellis, a Huntington musician, will open up the show.

Scrapomatic

The Scrapomatic soulful duo is taking the stage Saturday March 3, at the Empty Glass. Vocalist Mike Mattison is pictured above with singer and guitarist Paul Olsen.

The local band Spurgie Hankins will be opening up for the Brooklyn based duo.

J. Marinelli’s anarchist prisoner benefit show

You may have heard about Morgantown solo punk rocker J. Marinelli (right). If you haven’t and you’re in Morgantown Friday, swing by the benefit show for Cassidy Wheeler, apparently some kind of anarchist prisoner.

The show is at 213 Green St. in Morgantown; cost is $4, and show starts at 8 p.m.

Shadow of a Martyr is set to play at the Pit in Elkins, WV Friday February 23.

This band does not suck: they were awarded Song of the Day, among other awards, by Garageband.com in December.
