Threefold Theory’s Tour Blog Day 3: Saturday, March 10, 2007
It’s show time, but first, let’s recap Friday’s events:
> Miami traffic is wretched.
> We got the 31-foot RV wedged into the hotel parking lot. It took an hour to get it out.
While Miami traffic is bad, it’s gorgeous skyline was the perfect backdrop for Board-Up Miami, as you can see from our vantage point at Miami Marine Stadium:
If you’ve never head of wakeboarding, it’s basically jet skiing on a small version of a surfboard. Only these guys catch some serious air:
In addition to wakeboarding, there were plenty of other events to keep the crowd excited. Red Bull-sponsored motocross rider Jeff “Full Tilt” Tilton was on hand to give an amazing freestyle demonstration, hopping, swiveling and careening around obstacles and spectators:
Also on the lineup were a few lovely ladies from Microkitten Brazilian Bikinis They modeled a few of the company’s new swimwear offerings (in this case, “swimwear” means two inches of fabric and some dental floss). As one could guess, this got the male contingency quite excited. This is where being a musician comes in handy, as we were able to meet the gals for a quick photo op:
But let us not forget, Board-Up Miami was also a music festival! By our estimates, there were at least 2,000 folks in attendance. The crowd by the stage was geared up and ready for some rock music by the time we were ready to hit the stage:
Hitting the stage around 5 p.m., we ripped into “Into the fray,” one of a new batch of songs that will be on our next album, which we hope will be out late this summer:
Taking a break to let officials give out competition awards, we talked with some folks from SunSports TV to give a quick interview:
So, as bad a Friday was for us, Saturday was that much better. We met a lot of cool new people from across the U.S. and Canada, got to visit a beautiful city and made some new fans — all doing something we love. What could be better than that? We have a ton of pictures from the day’s events, and we’ll be putting the best of these on our MySpace page and website.Despite the aggravations of the trip, the end in this case truly justified the means. We all had a blast and will have plenty of memories to keep us occupied on the long road back to West Virginia.
