TURKEY ON THE TOWN: Rock shows *gobble gobble* 11.21-24

Alright, so yer one of those people who can’t stand the holidays, yeah? Okay, so you love them and all that… But you still want to go out to an area show this week and “celebrate” the holidays hardcore-like. You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for someone to tell you which bands to check out…

Wed. Nov. 21

Split Nixon comes to The Sound Factory in Charleston to help ring in the holiday season. Dunno if these boys from Ashland, Ky. have a new CD out yet but their first one was killer. Yeah they’re from Kentucky — at least it’s not Ohio. 10 p.m., much money.

Jeff Ellis and Guinness Clarke’s Wine come together for a special “Thanks-gathering” show at the V Club in Huntintgon. We need to know what to do to join their “club” because they have cool bands and we heard from Rasta Rafiki that the place is cool. Just show up and tell them the Gazz sent you. No don’t do that… The V Club is conveniently located @ 6th Ave. & 8th St. This is a 21+ show, so sorry punks. 10 p.m., $20 (to cover all yer costs).

Thu. Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving)
OFF — Eating

Fri. Nov. 23
Threefold Theory comes to Charleston for a couple of shows at the Parrot Friday and Saturday. Friday they’ll do a show with Charleston’s Ten Carp Lie, and Saturday with the Billy Carri Band. Threefold Theory and Split Nixon would be a good show. Parrot shows are normally $5 and start around 10 p.m.

Also Friday, Bud Carroll and Jeff Ellis are scheduled to do a show at the Sound Factory. This would be a most killer show to see, and we recommend this one, if any. They did a show there recently and must’ve digged it enough to come back. Five thumbs up show. 10 p.m., get a reverse mortgage…

Ever thought about wrestling in mashed potatoes? Don’t let us forget to tell you about a seemingly special show up Wheeling. Apparently Yesterday’s is doing a Second Annual Mashed Potato Wrestling Show Friday the 23rd with bands like Holden Caulfield among others. The idea of mashed potato wrestling alone is worth checking out, as is this pretty cool sounding club up thRRR. 9 p.m. check their Myspace for cover.

Enjoy yer Thanksgiving whoever you are…
