Okay so we’ve talked to you about the quality of the rock shows in Morgantown. Sometimes it may seem like we’ve got some kind of sweetheart deal with the city to promote their town. Such is NOT the case. But there are some sweet shows up there that we’d love to put on the ol’ Gazz dancecard.

The Concept/Renfields/DangerKat @ Fuel
This has got to be one of our top picks of 2007. Two of our favorite acts: The Concept (Charleston pop-punk) and The Renfields (Transylvanian pogo-punk from Fairmont) join DangerKat for a show at Fuel on Walnut St., in Morgantown. I imagine the guys in the Concept might be interested in staying up there to see the top-ranked Mountaineers play Pitt Saturday. Well The Renfields are not on the bill anymore for this show. That sucks. In their place will be Crooked Elm and The Gentlemen. HOWEVER — We are delighted that The Renfields are now booked to come to the Blue Parrot with the Concept and VOA 12.21. !!!
85 Flood/Librarians/J Marinelli @ 123 Pleasant St.
J. Marinelli’s one-man folk-punk stylings have put him at the top of whatever list we make. Librarians are one of the cooler indie acts from Morgantown. 85 Flood is said to have undergone a bit of a stylistic shift from their earlier more folk-rock style, according to Aaron Hawley, who would know. He’s in the band.

Larry Keel and Natural Bridge @ V Club, Huntington
We’ve heard about all kinds of cool shows at this venue recently. And yes, you may have heard about Keel, his renowned flat-picking style, and his beard in a recent Graffiti interview. We happened to pick up the Keller (Williams) & the Keels CD at a Keel show at the Sound Factory last year and rocked it out for a while. Good times.
Sarasota/US Brass/Black Knots @ the Parrot
Haven’t heard of the first two bands. In fact it looks like Sarasota from our own chemical valley is quite defunct. But this show may prove otherwise and sounds promising if yer in Charleston Saturday night, Dec. 1. Parrot shows usually cost $5 and start around 10 p.m.
