We came across some cool pics of ‘85 Flood up at 123 Pleasant Street Friday night for their CD release show. Check out more on their Myspace profile. They were a recent ‘Song of the Day’  at the SoundCheck gazzaudioblog (that’s a real word, but you have to say it real fast), which you can hear by clicking here and placing song in your ear.

Tuesdays @ Club Echo: Tweedle Needs You

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Hey, part of being involved with anything news-related involves redirecting information. Here we do this with what sounds like a cool idea for Tuesday nights at the new Club Echo in Huntington. Here’s what we cut and pasted from a Myspace bulletin about the thing.

“A new night we are trying to get started.. I would love to have a local host band every week we aren’t chargin a cover so i don’t know if we’ll be able to do any type of pay but i’ll deal with that when it comes to it… thats why i really want a local to host it, it will also be an open mic type night.. host band for a few then who ever wants to play , then maybe the host band again for a few more songs, in the meantime we’ll be playing punk in the main bar area, i’m trying to work on some drink specials for the night as well ….. thanks derek for the idea… if anyone has any input or wants to host let me know and we’ll start working on it also if you want to try to just start puttin punk shows together for this night we can maybe do that as well

“i want us to have a night of our own again and i think this may work let me know guys. TWEEDLE.”

Something to blog about: Bud Carroll @ the Empty Glass

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I don’t need to tell readers of this blog that sometimes even the best laid plans can go astray whenst put into practice. Case in point: I was all set to go to Sam’s Friday night to see Joe Prichard and his JPB. Featuring Billy Matheny and the members of his Frustrations AKA American Sound Syndicate, the JPB was set to do a couple of shows there over the weekend. With Jessica having gone to see George Strait with a friend, I was totally set to crash Sam’s for the first time for the Gazz.

The original plan had been to go to Capitol Street Saturday night to see Prichard, and also swing by the Parrot to see Dog Soldier and Shorthrow. Highest on the agenda for Friday was to catch Bud Carroll and his Southern Souls at the Empty Glass in Charleston. (more…)

The Dig-Its have a new CD coming out in a month, and they’ve recently uploaded new songs to their Myspace profile — it’s basically their website. So, be like us, and be fans of The Dig-Its. And thanks to Rae for hooking us up. You can see more pics she took at The Dig-Its page.
