Of course, our local music lock o’ the week is at the V Club (741 6th Ave.) in Huntington, as The Emergency and Billy Matheny & the Frustrations come to town with Memphis the Band. Matheny and The Emergency are Morgantown rock staples, and they’re coming to Herd Country so get yer couches out, Huntington! Cover is just $5!
Also in Huntington Friday, there’s a cool benefit show at Club Echo (1318 4th Ave.) as Rythmic Ceremonial Ritual, Ten Carp Lie, Threefold Theory, PI, and A Place of Solace come together to help the American Cancer Society. Cover is $7.
Bluffton, South Carolina’s Zach Deputy brings his reggae-meets-roots rock to The Empty Glass (410 Elizabeth St.) on Charleston’s historic East End Friday night. From what I heard on his MySpace page it sounded pretty cool; the kind of vibe perfect for the Glass.
Asheville, North Carolina dubmasters Telepath and Symmetrical Kickboxing (Morgantown trance) play 123 Pleasant Street in Morgantown. This lineup would be far out indeed.
Saturday 4.26
Cool rock show Saturday night at the Blue Parrot (14 Capitol St.) as Huntington’s frenetic Black Knots come to town for a show with The Big Bad (WV horror punk) and Columbus, Ohio’s Shotgun Kelly. I imagine there will be quite a few punks at this show. 10 p.m., cover will likely be $5. The Wheeling-based acoustic jamband Seven (Brian Gorby & Adam Snoderly) comes to the Glass Friday if that’s more yer vibe.
Speaking of Wheeling, Wilderkin (Wheeling Southern metal) will have their CD release party at Yesterday’s (1056 Main St.) in Wheeling, with Pittsburgh rockers Von Dane and Chano opening up. 10 p.m., cover is $5.
Telepath and Symmetrical Kickboxing take the party to the V Club in Huntington, and Saturday in Morgantown, The Emergency and The Stonewall Jackson Five play 123 Pleasant Street so if you missed The Emergency in Huntington swing by for this one.
