WEEKEND WATCH: 12.19-12.20
There’s no shortage of cool shows this weekend, so read on to find out where…
FRI 12.19
Up in Morgantown, two of Magic Town’s finest, ‘85 Flood and Billy Matheny and the Frustrations, will rock the second annual ”Very Townie Christmas” show at Gene’s Friday night. Best thing is, it’s a FREE show, so you can apply those funds to purchasing presents. NOW we’re talking about some Christmas spirit. Gene’s is located on Wilson Avenue in South Park (in Morgantown, not Colorado), and be there at 9 p.m. – that’s all we got.

SAT 12.20
Orlando (via Charleston) -based ska band 69 Fingers returns to Charleston for the holidays, for a show at The Brickhouse in St. Albans Saturday afternoon. They’ll be joined by local punks The Concept and The Big Bad. Huntington’s Down Goes Frazier is also scheduled to make the trip to town. Will members of 69 Fingers and The Concept cover the 18-minute long punk rock epic “The Decline” by NOFX at this show? Not likely, but we hear they’re eventually gonna do it, perfect for these times. Cover is $7, and the show is set to start at 5 p.m. Should be a good one.

Huntington punk rock four-piece Sarasota (whoah!) welcomes Amish Electric Chair to Shamrock’s Irish Pub (2050 3rd Ave.) Saturday night. If they have any copies, pick up a copy of Sarasota’s 10-song CD, released earlier this year. Hey, even if they don’t, ask someone they know to burn one for ya, it’s that cool. Check out “Everything Changes” and “Woe Say Canseco” on their MySpace site to get a feel of their version of punk rock. Show starts at 10 p.m., cover should be $5.
