Celeste woke up this morning not feeling too well, so she’s in my bed watching TV. I went in a few minutes ago to check on her and this is what I found . . .

The one on Celeste’s chest is NOT our dog. She lives across the street.

How did she manage to sneak that little booger into the house? That’s so funny! You can’t blame her you know, she has a soft heart for animals… just like you.

I think Penny sneaked into the house when I was taking the other dogs out. Door open. Back turned. She wasn’t letting that opportunity slip by. Several months back I was walking through my living room and out of the corner of my eye, it looked like my couch moved. Penny’s the same color as my couch. Apparently she’d slipped in sometime that morning and snoozed there all day.

Haha!! We had a similar situation just a month ago.

The doggie door was open all day so Gracie could come and go as she pleased. (this is where I should mention Gracie was in heat at the time) When we got home later that evening, Gracie came running out of our bedroom toward us and HER BOYFRIEND ran out behind her and up the stairs to get away! I couldn’t believe she brought her boyfriend inside the house! (and in our bedroom of all places!)

Back in the summer, we had a couple of bears roaming the neighborhood. Sometimes they wandered onto a porch or walked around the yard. I used to leave the doggie door open all night so the girls could go out when nature called.

One night, as FeFe was going out the door, something else was sticking it’s head inside (but it’s body was too big to get through). FeFe had this scream of a bark when she was startled… as soon as I heard her, my first thought was OH CRAP! IT’S THE BEAR! I turned on the lights and found that the bear was actually our neighbor’s dog, Harley, trying to visit.

We would have been in for a shock if he had been sitting in our livingroom when we woke up that morning!

Gracie’s a hussy! That is so funny. I can’t imagine us having a pet door. The traffic would be crazy. About a year or two back, we had a big dog in our neighborhood who would stand and OOF at our door. (He had a speech impediment. Couldn’t say his W’s.) When you let him in, he’d run up the stairs and straight to the toy & treat basket, get himself a bone and then leave. Nice dog. Never took more than one.

Where do you live that you’ve had bears around? The only bear I ever saw was in Canaan Valley.

I know! We called her another word along that line :) She and Fe would stand at the fence, wagging their tails at the boy dogs when they were both in heat. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

The speech impediment comment made me laugh out loud. That was too funny.

We actually live in Mingo County, just a few miles outside of Gilbert. Evidently, from what our neighbors say, the bears come to visit every year. I hope I only hear about it… I’d freak out if I actually saw one.

The time I saw a bear, we were staying in a cabin in Timberline. It was early spring and we had all the doors propped open, and we were cooking bacon and eggs. I stepped out on the porch just off the kitchen to put out some trash and saw something galloping my way through the woods. My first thought was that’s an awfully big dog. Didn’t take long to realize it wasn’t a dog. I had all those doors shut in no time. It ended up just going right on past.

Oooh, the thoughts of that bear galloping it’s way into the house made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Glad it went by the house!
