Walk A Hound, Lose A Pound

Dog lovers — this is going to be fun!

On Saturday, August 19, the Kanawha City Community Center is hosting a two-mile dog walk, a dog swim at the rec center pool, a health fair, a best trick contest, and a dog and owner costume contest. (I’m judging this! Celeste is bummed because it means she can’t win, but she’s still planning to enter.)

Celeste and I took Murry to the dog swim last year and it was so much fun. Murry is more of a wader than a swimmer, but the other dogs there (especially the retrievers and labs) were having the time of their life.

No registration fee is required, but donations of dog items will be accepted and given to the Kanawha/Charleston Humane Association.

All dogs participating should be well socialized, on a leash, and with a walker who is willing to clean up after the dog. Activities begin at 10 am with the dog walk.

For questions, contact Rachel Pett at 348-8008 or rachel.pett@cityofcharleston.org.

Early registrations should be sent to: Charleston Parks & Recreation, 200 Baker Lane, Charleston, 25302.

Okey dokey Karin, I’m finally getting to the blog comment I’ve been meaning to leave for a couple weeks now.

I want everyone who reads these addictive blogs to know and support an individual that doesn’t realize her amazing talent.

Karin Fuller has become, increasingly over the past four years, my idol. She is way too modest and doesn’t realize her columns, blogs, community involvement and everything else is actually her part in bettering our lives and Charleston as a whole.

No I am not a co-worker, family member, or any of the like and this comment has no hidden agenda. I just think we all should try to be the best we can be, help when we’re able and model our own lives after Karin Fuller’s. She’s 110% genuine, honest and always looks for ways to help, regardless of the situation. Life is so scary and chaotic with wars, terrorists and thieves, we need to do our own part in letting those who make us smile when we’re stressed know our appreciation.

And my last advice, meant for anyone and everyone, is if you enjoy her columns and blogs as much as I, you will absolutely love her newest project with Ric Cochran on V100. Every Thursday at 4:15, they do a radio show named “Family Foolery (Fullery?)” that always has me laughing throughout and I swear they’re the next Regis & Kelly!!!

Wow, Julie. I don’t know what to say. (Other than, “Other than where do I send the check?̶ ;)

    Thank you.

No need to thank me, you’re welcome anyway. My pleasure. All was sincere and honest.

    Thank you!–>
