New shows (for me)

Over the holidays, I got to catch up on some TV shows I’d taped, but hadn’t had time to watch. One new show totally blew me away—“Friday Night Lights.” What an incredible show. This series has some of the richest writing, best acting and editing and music of any show on TV. I’m looking forward to getting this whole season when it’s out on DVD (something I’ve only done with “24” and “Lost”).
Another really good one is “Heros.” What a cool show. I haven’t seen it from the beginning but I caught up on a few of the episodes that I missed recently and again—I’m totally hooked. There are little things about the show that remind me of “Twin Peaks,” like the music that plays every time the Cheerleader is on screen. It’s kind of like “Laura’s Theme.”
Anyone else watching either of these? Used to be I wouldn’t watch any shows that required seeing it every week in order to follow the story, but now, it seems that’s all I watch. No reality shows. No game shows. None of the competition-type shows. I’m really looking forward to the start of the new season of “24.”

My son talks about both of these shows and says they’re great but I have not seen them. I did start watching Daybreak with Taye Diggs. THAT is a neat show, too! It has that ‘freaky strange’ element, kind of like Lost, and since it took the Lost time slot it wasn’t too tough for me to watch it.
It just seems like our schedules around here keep me hopping in the evenings and I have to really pick and choose the shows I want to get into. Not fair since there is so much good stuff out there right now!

It kills me when I hear people complain about there being nothing good on TV. There are more well-written, top quality shows on now than ever. I haven’t watched Daybreak. I’ve been trying to cut back and not start anything new, but my husband was so into “Friday Night Lights” and “Heros” that I had to see what all his fuss was about.

I thought Six Degrees and Daybreak were good shows, too. Note the past tense–after all the hype for Daybreak, ABC pulled it in mid-stream due to low ratings. Viewers were supposed to be able to watch it on abc.com, but I’ve not been able to find it there. Six Degrees just disappeared.
Sure, DB was Groundhog Day gone bad, with more twists and about-faces than a drunken snake, but it was entertaining and really kept the viewr on his toes just trying to keep up. I wouldn’t care if they aired it at 3:00am–it can always be recorded and watched later.

Boy am I a doof! I thought I had just missed Daybreak and didn’t realize it had been pulled. Shows how much I keep up with things.
Karin, just a little funny to tell you. Last night when Perri got out of the shower, I had her come to my room so that I could blow-dry her hair. Thought I’d kick on the tube and see what I could get into and lo and behold, there is Friday Night Lights! I’m thinking “Great! I can see what it is like!” Well, less than 5 minutes into it they’re showing a steamy sex scene…and there sits Perri, wide-eyed and taking it all in! That is probably the fastest I have ever moved to reach the remote!
