The registration deadline for the third “Poetry Out Loud” competition is Jan. 31, 2008.

Schools’ competitions and/or regional contests must be wrapped up by Feb. 16, 2008.

State championship will be on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Cultural Center.

In the spirit of “Always be a poet, even in prose” (Charles Baudelaire), I see where Goat Rope blogger El Cabrero is in D.C. this week, “savoring the irony of writing about Heart of Darkness within view of the Bush White House.” There’s one social justice blogger who eats and breathes poetry, in a sense, through every paragraph.
