“Sometimes I think this whole world is one big prison yard. Some of us are prisoners, the rest of us are guards.”
– Bob Dylan, “George Jackson

Let me key you in on the latest about the West Virginia International Film Festival, mentioned on this poetry blog because, hey, isn’t Dylan one of the greatest poets around? On an important level, some of us think so, to be ambiguous about it.

I know the film fest is mentioned elsewhere and all, but I love Dylan’s music, always have. One time Neruda said if he could meet one U.S. poet, he would want it to be Dylan.

Those of the Bob Dylan persuasion would enjoy the bio-drama “I’m Not There” tonight and Friday and Saturday.

Another thing I always liked about Dylan — he admired Woody Guthrie, shared with him what some call “the American spirit.”  Which reminds me: How about these lyrics?

I Ain’t Got No Home In This World Anymore
Woody Guthrie

Well i ain’t got no home i’m just ramblin’ round
Just a ramblin’ worker, go from town to town
Police make it hard wherever i may go
I ain’t got no home in this world anymore.

All my brothers an’ my sisters have stranded on this road
That’s a hard ol’ dusty road that a million feet have trod
Rich men took our home an’ they drove us from our door
Man can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

Well as i look around me it’s funny an’ plain to see
This wicked cruel world is a funny ol’ place to be
The gamblin’ man is rich lord, the workin’ man is poor
Can’t fit his home in this world anymore.
