OBAMA SONGS: Lady D in the mix
Bonni McKeown sends this e-mail because I’m on her mailing list (by the way, click here to check out her web site):
West Virginia’s Lady D, Doris Fields, is one of 69 singer songwriters in contention for Best Obama Song for the Artist/Musicians for Obama group. Please listen to these wonderful songs and consider voting for hers!
“Go Higher” is one of the most inspiring songs I’ve ever heard. It has a chorus where you can sing along on “higher!” By the way, Doris won a 2005 contest for best song about Charleston WV, with her “It’s a Charleston Thing.”

Bonnie then adds this missive from Marla at obamamae.com:
The best Obama inaugural song competition is now underway at Obama Music, Arts, and Entertainment. There are 69 excellent submissions and your mission (should you choose to accept) is to help determine the semi-finalists. I’ve opened up the site so anyone who wants to vote can do so without becoming a member first. You will find voting links on the homepage of OMAE and under the “song contest” tab. Voting is open for one week. Let’s get one of these fine artists to inauguration! http://www.obamamae.com
All my best,
Marla
