Stephen Earley Jordan II will deliver a spoken word performance, hosted by Morgantown Poets, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Monongalia Arts Center, 107 High St., Morgantown, W.Va. Ted Webb will open the event. Free and open to the public.

Following the literary tradition of Langston Hughes and James Baldwin, and contemporary writers Essex Hemphill and Sapphire, Jordan wrote a collection of creative nonfiction, essays and poetry, “Beyond Bougie,” that came out in 2006.
