Ubisoft has the video game market cornered on cute. Now, the company that brought gamers “Petz Hamsterz 2″ and “Petz Dogz Fashion” has taken cute to the next level with “The Dog Island” for the Nintendo Wii.

But make no mistake, there’s some meat underneath that sugary exterior.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you already know my feelings about the next installment in the “Call of Duty” franchise, “World at War.”

Now you can judge for yourself.

Video games based on movies have a certain stigma attached to them.

Generally speaking, they’re not very good. Activision’s “Kung Fu Panda,” however, kicks that notion to the curb. With plenty of humor and solid gameplay, “Kung Fu Panda” proves that licensed games can be fun. (more…)

Gamers will have a chance to go hands-on with the latest college football game from EA Sports later this week.

A demo of “NCAA Football 09″ is set to be released Thursday (at the latest) on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. No word on what teams will be available, but my guess is a rematch of last year’s national title game between Ohio State and LSU.

“NCAA 09″ ships to retailers July 15.

There may be no more polarizing personality in all of sport than Don King. And there may be no more polarizing sports game to hit the market this year than 2K Sports’ “Don King Presents: Prizefighter” for the Xbox 360.

Why mess with a good thing?

After all, “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” was one of the top-selling games of 2007 and the recipient of countless Game of the Year awards (including mine). It continues to be the most-played game on Xbox Live and the first batch of new maps have been downloaded more than a million times.

If you haven’t figured it out, people love this game. I love this game. It stands to reason, then, that I should be giddy with excitement over a sequel, right? Sadly, that’s not the case.

So what’s in your console?

Friday, June 6th, 2008

In fact, after Wednesday’s storms knocked out the power at my house and, in the process, fried my laptop which — you guessed it — contained the aforementioned “GTA” review, I am convinced that there is some higher power at work here.

Rather than tempt fate again, I concede.

So, in place of a full-blown review of “GTA IV,” today I’ve decided to give a few quick hits on some of the games I’ve been playing lately, “GTA” included:

Review: ‘Wii Fit’

You have to give the developers at Nintendo credit.

First, they challenged our brains with “Brain Age.” Now, they’re challenging our bodies with “Wii Fit.” And make no mistake — “Wii Fit” will challenge your body. Chances are, though, you’ll be having such a good time you won’t even feel the burn.
