Countdown to kickoff: Day 2

Today’s continuing coverage of “NCAA Football 2009″ takes a look at the heart and soul of the game — the ratings.

The top-rated teams in “NCAA 09″ are no surprise — Ohio State (99) and Georgia (99) are expected by many prognosticators to be the cream of the crop this season. Seven other teams are rated 90 or higher — Oklahoma (96), USC (94), Missouri (94), Florida (94), Florida State (94), LSU (91) and Penn State (91).

West Virginia is rated 84 overall, with the Mountaineers’ offense checking in at 90 and the defense a respectable 80. Marshall is a 72 overall (75 offense, 73 defense).
