INTRODUCING: Wine and Dine
Welcome to ‘Wine and Dine,’ a new Charleston Gazette blog about wine selection and advice, along with tips on pairing wine with food. John Brown is a seasoned wine columnist, whose writing on wine will also be seen in the Sunday Gazette-Mail on a regular basis. Also, we will be rolling out some wine tips on video and taking some multimedia journeys in search of the best places to enjoy wine in the West Virginia region. We welcome your feedback on this new blog, either in the ‘Comment’ section below each post or by sending your comments to gazz@wvgazette.com

I think this is great! I’ve had the “privilege” of knowing John my entire life and he has always been my resident wine expert. I grew up in Charleston and now live in Columbus, OH. So I will definitely be checking his blog for the latest and greatest vino info!

Very excited for this! Here in NYC, I couldn’t get the regular access to John’s encyclopedia-like wine knowledge that I’d prefer—until now.
Thank you for straightening out the definition of “flabby”. Quite nice!

Its about time my Uncle’s vast knowledge of sausage and what wine to drink with it is put to good use!!! Congrats, and I will be an avid reader!

I just read your wine column this morning and I loved it (actually laughed twice). I have always been interested in wine, but I have no idea what is good wine and what is bad wine. I am looking forward to learning what I can from your columns, kinda wish they were going to be weekly. The first part of the paper each Sunday morning that I read is the Food section. Congrats!

This is really good - we will look forward to your column! Along with some friends, we are planning a visit to California to visit the wine valleys, so, be sure and throw in trip recommendations occasionally! Although, I have to say, my favorite wines are actually made in WV!!

Thank you ladies. I hope to touch on just about every aspect of wine, including the places where it’s made, the foods that marry nicely with it and, most importantly, how you don’t need to have any special pedigree or educational background to enjoy the stuff.

John,
Visited a brand new, just-opened winery in Vienna Saturday called winetree vineyard. They have some delightful local wine that needs to be publicized. How can i pass on info about them to you?
