Terry Lively’s UE film shown at national conference
Gordon Simmons, a leader of the labor reform movement in West Virginia and president of the WV Labor History Assn., told me that Terry Lively’s new short film on the UE Movement in WV called “A New Beginning” was shown on Sept. 17th in Pittsburgh to more than 200 national delegates to their annual national conference.
Ms. Lively is a member of the UE and a well-known WV filmmaker, presently serving as the first woman president of the WV Filmmakers Guild. She is presently working on a new film about labor unions in the 21st century.
“A New Beginning” stars various UE members plus other union supporters including Mountain Party leader Jesse Johnson. The film has already been shown at the 2007 Paden City Labor Film Festival and the 2007 WV Library Assn. annual conference in Morgantown.
