Christopher X. Janus was honored the night before he flew to South Charleston for the special night at The South Charleston Museum honoring him and showing the film version of his book about growing up in Montgomery, WV, “Goodbye, Miss Fourth of July.” The Chicago-based Harvard Club celebrated its 150th anniversary. The new female president of Harvard, Dr. Drew Faust, came to Chicago to be the keynote speaker for the event. She also honored Janus as the oldest active member of the club. Janus is a past president of the club.

| Description: | The Harvard Club of Chicago is very pleased to announce that Drew G. Faust, the 28th president ofHarvard University, will be the Club’s guest at dinner on Friday, November 9, 2007. Our Club is the first club in the world to host the new president and we are extremely honored. The event is also the culmination of the Club’s 150th birthday celebration and recognition as the oldest continuously operating Harvard Club in the world. It will be an elegant evening with appropriate mementos of the Club’s history including the official 150 year history of the Harvard Club of Chicago. Contained within its 12 chapters and 7 appendices, is not only a documentary of the history of our club, but its relationships to the University and to the history of Chicago all presented in illustrated and lively prose. The patron fee is $500 which entitles you to two dinner tickets. If you prefer not to be a patron, the fee is $150 per person. The first 100 patrons to respond will also receive a full size commemorative lithograph by renowned Chicago artist, John Himmelfarb AB ’68, MAT ’70. This limited edition original lithograph is 15”h x 11”w and was designed especially for the program cover of the club’s first sesquicentennial celebration this spring. The artist has kindly donated his design to assist us in our fundraising efforts. |
