Pare Lorentz, a native of Clarksburg, WV, raised in Buckhannon, has been receiving a lot of attention during the last few years. In Chicago, The 75th anniversary of the New Deal Film Festival will show “The Fight for Life.” “The Plow that Broke the Plains” and other New Deal films.

As perhaps the first environmental filmmaker in the world, our fellow filmmaker made films still unequaled in their lyrical style, using images and music in ways that are as current today as they were in the 1930s. His more realistic films, “The Nuremberg Trails” and “The Fight for Life - The Chicago Maternity Center Story”(a docu-drama), are also landmarks. Hopefully more people in WV and around the world will learn more about these great New Deal Films.
