As I often tell film students, great filmmakers are very often great writers as well. One local instance of this combination is WV Filmmakers Guild prez Terry Lively. She has been making films for years, teaching courses at WVSU, the state’s only film school, and doing a lot of writing. Both sides of her brain seem to be working to their maximum.

Her novel about the amazing Keystone Bank failure called “Keystone” won an honorable mention out of 60 entries at the recent West Virginia Writers conference.

At the WV-Public Relations Society of America’s 2009 Crystal Awards Ceremony, the book Ms. Lively  produced and edited, Crossings – Bridge Building in West Virginia received a Crystal Award in the Book Division.    The DVD won two Crystal Awards at their  2007 ceremony.

Terry e-mailed me, “  It’s wonderful when people completely unfamiliar with your work deem it praise and award worthy.  I am humbled and grateful.”

She is presently busy working on a documentary about the history of public employees and several other film projects.  Last fall she released her great film called “Coondog Heaven” that premiered at SCM LaBelle Theater.
